The Carolinas and Tennessee

We have made great progress south! Check out our stops the last couple of weeks:

7th Stop – Belhaven Manor Marina in Belhaven, NC

Such a cute little town! This marina is a beautiful place on the water and has new owners that are updating the marina and pretty wedding venue here. We ate at an awesome restaurant called “Spoon River”. (http://spoonrivernc.com). Very unique food and owners. The wife is also a set designer and artist. She has the most amazing ceiling decorations made out of book pages:

8th Stop – River Dunes Marina in Oriental, NC

Perfect quiet, protected marina with the most charming neighborhood with old style southern homes. We ate dinner in the restaurant there and made a visit to their hot tub!

9th Stop – Dudley’s Marina in Swansboro, NC

This was a small marina and quick stop but had everything we needed and great staff to help us park in a tight, shallow slip. Thanks guys!

10th Stop – Dockside Marina in Wrightsville Beach, NC

Well if you are a Dawson’s Creek fan then enough said! They filmed much of their show here and One Tree Hill here and in Wilmington, with is right around the corner. We got to talk to some bartenders and hear stories of when the cast would come into their bar. So fun!

11th Stop – Harbor Gate Resort Marina in N. Myrtle Beach
Great spot for docking right along the ICW! We ate on boat and rested and worked and got up next morning to leave early for a long ride.

12th Stop – Harborwalk Marina in Georgetown, SC

We may have semi crashed an outside wedding here to listen to a band ….lol!!!

13th Stop – Charleston, SC

Ugh! This ride was rough. We decided to take some other boaters advice and go offshore instead of staying in the ICW. They had said that it may be too shallow in some spots on the ICW getting to Charleston so we went offshore with two other boats. We were in some pretty big waves most of the day (averaging about 5ft). We will be checking the weather and wind before ever doing this again. It was a long day. Charleston is a beautiful town though and we were able to get a car there and ride around site seeing, etc.

The boat has actually been in Charleston for a week now as we headed to TN to see the Meade family in Johnson City, TN. Always a fun time with the fam and their friends. And we got to celebrate the Captain’s birthday there 🙂
