Clarity is headed South!

We officially headed south on the boat a little more than a week ago. Our goal is to make it to the Bahamas so follow along and see if everything goes according to plan!

Wow what a trip so far!

1st stop – Solomans island. We actually didn’t even get off the boat here…lol! We have seen Solomans a ton on Clarity boat #1 (C1) so we used this time to get the boat ready for the journey south.

2nd stop – Deltaville, VA. Such a cute town! We biked to a restaurant called “Deltaville Tap & Raw Bar.” I had a seafood boil with all of the seafood. It was delicious!

3rd stop – Little Creek, VA – We stayed here for a few days and had the best time! We got to visit with our old sailing buddy Mike and his beautiful wife Jen, who we had not seen in awhile. They always have the best time and such a great group of friends. We got to be included in their Sunday brunch with friends and it was so much fun! Thanks Kim and Brandon for hosting at your amazingly beautiful house!!!

Also during this trip we got to hang out with our friends Chris and Beth. They are also headed south on their sailboat, which they have done a few times. It was our first rescue mission šŸ˜. Their sailboat was having some motor issues that day so we took our tender out and towed them into the marina where we were staying. Sorry they were having engine issues but it was meant to be that we were around and we could help them and see them!

4th stop – Top Rack marina in Chesapeake, VA
Easy parking and such nice people. It is a small marina right on ICW but has a lovely restaurant! We met Alison, our bartender, and she made great old fashions šŸ˜‚. The best was we got to talking to her and about her dad. She said he had a saying “I am glad you got to see me today.” So funny cause if you know Bruce this is something he always says to people when he says goodbye. I have never really heard anyone else say it. She also had a tattoo of it. See Alison and her awesome tattoo:

5th stop – Coinjock Marina in Coinjock, NC
We crossed over into NC! This marina is a staple for boaters going south and it was packed! Thanks to our friends Holly and Ray that have also done this boating trip south many times we knew to call ahead and reserve 2 Prime Ribs. That’s what you eat here! We ordered two 16 ounce steaks and had leftovers again the next night! The guys next to us ordered the 32 ounce. Check it out below!

6th Stop
– Alligator River marina in Tyrell County, NC
Ok, well first on the way here, it was a pretty good ride UNTIL a large boat went by us at full speed and we took one of their huge wake waves. My heart dropped. Mom – Its ok we were safe and the boat handled just fine, however, we lost our grill into the water that was on the top deck. Time to go grill shopping. eek!

We are at Alligator River marina for an unexpected 2nd day due to weather. Going to try their fried chicken for lunch with Sunday football as that is what some folks told us to try here šŸ˜Š

More to come on our adventures!

The One where we head South (IYKYK) šŸ˜¢,
Lisa
